Fried, as a supplier of medical and laboratory equipment, bears a special responsibility for its end customers. It is particularly important to maintain the production despite the difficult situation with the coronavirus. Preventive measures have been taken to protect employees and customers from infection.

3D printing as a protective measure

One of these measures comes from Fried partner Materialise, who designed a hands-free door opener for the 3D printer. The door opener can only be operated with the elbow in order to avoid hand contact with the door handle and to limit the spread of the virus. Thanks to the rapid printing at Fried, many rest room and hall doors could already be equipped with the door openers in March 2020. They are still used today in the production and in the visitor rooms at Fried and by several customers.

Different models

There are a total of twelve different 3D models available for free download. The plastic openers are suitable for cylindrical, rectangular, circular or spherical door handles. There are also narrow, wide, horizontal and vertical finishes for each handle type.
